New York Rangers Open Game Thread: Rangers Vs. Sabres
The Rangers look to win their second to last game of the season.
The Rangers play their second to last regular season game tonight the struggling Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres are 2-7-1 in their last ten games and are currently in a four-game losing streak. The Sabres are the worst team in hockey and the Rangers have beat them in the first two meetings between the clubs earlier in the 2013-14 regular season.
What is there to say about tonight's game? The Rangers should to win tonight and, to be honest, I would be shocked if they didn't come away from tonight's game with two points. They don't technically "have" to win, but winning tonight would go a long way towards securing home ice in the 2014 Playoffs.
With John Moore back in the Rangers lineup and Ryan McDonagh set to return for the playoffs, it is up to Raphael Diaz to continue to stand out and hold onto his roster spot. The only problem with that is that John Moore has looked excellent since returning to the lineup after suffering a concussion. It is going to be interesting to see who stays in the lineup when Ryan McDonagh returns to the picture in the 2014 Playoffs and whether or not the Rangers go with the left-handed youngster Moore or the right-handed power play specialist Diaz. The thing about Diaz is that he is a lot more than just a guy who can skate and makes nice passes on the power play, he is also very solid in his own end. Look for both John Moore and Raphael Diaz to make statement games tonight against a Sabres team that has a lot of holes in it.
