New York Rangers Rumors: Newport Sports Representatives In NYC, What Does It Mean?

Agents from Newport Sports are arriving in New York City today, to meet with clients. What does this mean for the New York Rangers?

According to Katie Strang of ESPN New York, representatives from the Newport Sport offices will be arriving in New York City today to meet with clients. Yesterday, news broke that the Rangers were interested in bringing back Norwegian forward Mats Zuccarello, and he is represented by Newport. It was also noted that current RFA holdout Ryan O'Reilly is also represented by Newport Sports as well, and he was recently linked to the New York Rangers in some recent trade rumors.

What does this necessarily mean for the New York Rangers? Well it could be just about anything at this point. It could range from Ryan O'Reilly's agents talking with Glen Sather on what the Rangers have to offer contract wise, Mats Zuccarello getting a contract offer, or just simply keeping up to date with their other clients such as Henrik Lundqvist, Brad Richards, Dan Girardi, and Michael Del Zotto.

Regardless of what these agents are in town for, you can expect their to be a ton of speculation in the next few days. Right now, we can't pinpoint what exactly it is just yet, but there has to be some sort of reasoning behind it. We'll find out sooner or later.
