2023 Playoffs: First Round, Game #2: New York Rangers vs New Jersey Devils Open Thread

The Rangers and Devils are back in action for the second game of their best of seven opening round playoff series. In spite of entering the series as betting underdogs, the Blueshirts proved they were up to the task with a convincing 5-1 victory in Game 1 to snatch home ice advantage away from the higher seeded Devils.

New York will be looking to buck a trend that was evident elsewhere in the hockey world last night, as three of the four other Game 1 winners fell in Game 2 to leave each of those series tied at 1-1. The Metropolitan Division champion Carolina Hurricanes are currently the only team with a 2-0 series lead, and the Blueshirts will look to join the club with another strong effort tonight.

Kevin Bahl - Damon Serverson

Vitek Vanecek

Player to Watch: Adam Fox

Fox was in the running for the best player on the ice during Game 1. New York's superstar defenseman recorded four assists, three of which were primary assists, and was a key factor in keeping the Devils off the scoreboard aside from their penalty shot goal late in the third period when the result was already solidified. It'll be tough for Fox to top his performance from two nights ago, but keep an eye on him as he looks to help the Rangers return to Madison Square Garden with a 2-0 series lead.

Enjoy the game!
