Game #14: New Jersey Devils vs New York Rangers Open Thread

There’s a battle of the titans going on at Madison Square Garden tonight. On one bench, you’ve got the New Jersey Devils, gearing up to play their first game since January 31st following a COVID-19 outbreak among the team. They’ll be visiting the Rangers, who currently find themselves mired in a three game losing streak in which they’ve managed to score two goals over that span. In addition to Artemiy Panarin’s continued absence, K’Andre Miller will be sitting out of tonight’s contest.

Both the Rangers and Devils have won four games thus far, which doesn’t sound too bad until you realize the Blueshirts have played thirteen games while New Jersey has only played nine. The Devils took the first game of the season series by a score of 4-3, and the second game scheduled for February 6th was pushed back to March 4th.

Player to Watch: Ryan Strome

Today is February 16th. Ryan Strome wears #16. That’s pretty much the most interesting nugget of info I’ve got for tonight’s game. This is is the part where I’d normally say to keep a close eye on Strome and he’ll make an impact on the game, but no Panarin means the only place you’re going to find Strome tonight is on the side of a milk carton.

Enjoy the game!
