Game #26: New York Rangers vs Boston Bruins Open Thread

Another Saturday means another matinee contest for the Blueshirts, as they’re back in action to complete their two game set with the Boston Bruins. Thursday’s affair saw the Rangers get the doors blown off them, as Boston scored a pair of goals in the first and second period before stepping off the gas in the third period and cruising to a 4-0 victory.

The Bruins currently occupy the 4th seed in the MassMutual East Division, and have a game and nine points in hand on the Rangers in the race for the final playoff spot in the division. With the halfway point of this truncated campaign nearly here, time is running out for New York to make its move in the playoff race.

Player to Watch: Artemiy Panarin

After missing the previous nine games due to an attempted smear campaign against him out of Russia, Panarin will return to the lineup this afternoon. While Panarin wasn’t at the same level he was last season, the dynamic superstar led the team in prior to taking a leave of absence, scoring 18 points in 14 games thus far. Panarin’s presence on the ice changes how team defend the Rangers, so look for him to find the scoresheet in first first game back on the ice.

Enjoy the game!
