Game #45: New York Rangers vs New Jersey Devils Open Thread

After winning the first three games of a four game set against Our Rivals That Are Definitely On The Rise And Totally Not Spinning Their Organizational Wheels, the Rangers will look to complete the sweep this afternoon in Newark. Yesterday’s win was the 5th of the season series for the Rangers, so they’ve already clinched a victory in that regard. After dropping the first two games of the series earlier in the season, the Blueshirts have won the last five and will look to make it six today.

A win today would also put the Rangers two points back of the Boston Bruins, who have had  a winning streak coinciding with New York’s, preventing them from ceding ground in the playoff race. With only a limited number of games remaining, a defeat against an inferior team would be devastating.

Player to Watch: Chris Kreider

After having scored zero goals in his last nine games, and one in the previous 12, Kreider scored an empty net goal to ice New York’s 6-3 victory yesterday. After getting the monkey off his back, look for Kreider to be active today and help the Rangers complete a sweep of this four game set.

Enjoy the game!
