NHL News: Brendan Burke, son of Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke killed in car crash
Brendan Burke, the son Toronto GM Brian Burke, was killed earlier today in a car crash in Indiana.
The incident occurred in Wayne County, Ind., when a black Jeep lost control and slid into the westbound lane of U.S. 35 and hit another vehicle head on.
Police told the Toronto Star that Burke was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee when the vehicle slid sideways into the path of a Ford truck. Burke's friend, 18-year-old Mark Reedy, also died in the accident.
Below is a statement from Dave Ogrean, executive director of USA Hockey, on Burke's passing. Brian Burke is also the general manager of the 2010 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team. Brendan, 21, died tonight in an automobile accident in Wayne County, Indiana.
"Our heart goes out to Brian and his family in this very difficult time. We know the prayers of the entire hockey family, including our Olympic Team, are with the Burke family."
We here at Blueshirt Banter would like to send our prayers and thoughts to the Burke and Reedy families during this difficult time.
