NHL News: Ryan McDonagh the Only Rangers 2016 All-Star

No Henrik Lundqvist, Mats Zuccarello, or Sidney Crosby for the Metropolitan Division All-Star team.

Today the rosters for the upcoming 2016 All-Star Game were announced and yes, John Scott of the Arizona Coyotes is on the Pacific Division's roster. Scott, a former Ranger, will serve as the captain of the Pacific Division's team while Alex Ovechkin, Jaromir Jagr, and Patrick Kane will serve as the captains for their respective divisional teams.

The game, to be played Sunday, Jan. 31 (5 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN, TVA Sports), will be a 3-on-3 tournament pitting the four divisions against one another in a winner-take-all format. The Atlantic Division will face the Metropolitan Division in one semifinal and the Central Division will face the Pacific Division in the other semifinal. The winners play in the championship game.

Games will be 20 minutes in length and will be decided by a shootout if tied after the 20 minutes.

The 44 players will also be involved in the Honda NHL All-Star Skills Competition on Saturday (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN, TVA Sports).

Rangers' captain Ryan McDonagh will be the only player representing the New York Rangers on the Metropolitan Division's team for the 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Game. The Washington Capitals, as one might have expected, are the most represented team on the Metropolitan Division's All-Star team with three players: Ovechkin, Backstrom, and Holtby.

Metropolitan Division Roster

Alex Ovechkin (captain), Nicklas Backstrom, Claude Giroux, Evgeni Malkin, Brandon Saad, John Tavares

Kris Letang, Ryan McDonagh, Justin Faulk

Braden Holtby, Cory Schneider

Two missing names that will certainly have some fans wondering if they should have participated in the All-Star vote or perhaps not cast their ballot for John Scott are Sidney Crosby of the Penguins and Henrik Lundqvist of the Rangers. Even without Lundqvist on the roster, it appears that the Metropolitan Division has the best goaltending of the All-Star tournament and should be a very fun team to watch and cheer for.

Thanks for reading. Let's go Rangers.

Should Mats Zuccarello be a 2016 NHL All-Star?

I honestly don't care250
