Open Game Thread: Devils vs Rangers

After getting wildly outplayed by the Washington Capitals only 24 hours ago, the Rangers are back in action tonight as they host the New Jersey Devils for the final time during the 17-18 season. These Devils are a different team from the one that came into Madison Square Garden on October 14th and earned a 3-2 victory. Gone are Joseph Blandisi and Adam Henrique, the man who drove a dagger through the heart of Rangerstown and ended New York’s 2012 playoff run in the Eastern Conference Finals. Those two were shipped out to the Anaheim Ducks, and the Devils acquired defenseman Sami Vatanen to bring some offensive punch to their blue line.

Four points currently separate the Rangers and Devils in the standings, so a regulation win would go a long way towards closing that gap as the new year approaches and the playoff picture starts coming into focus. On the other hand, a regulation loss would further the divide between New York, New Jersey, and the other four teams the Blueshirts find themselves looking up at in the standings.

Enjoy the game! Or don’t, I can’t tell you what to do.
