Open Game Thread: Rangers vs. Sabres
The Rangers will look to build off their Tuesday victory over the Philadelphia Flyers before departing for a west coast road trip.
The New York Rangers, 23-17-5 (51 points), square off against the Buffalo Sabres, 11-24-9 (31 points), in a rematch of the 2018 Winter Classic. The Rangers are 4-5-1 in their last 10 games, and the Sabres are 3-5-2.
The Rangers are fresh off a 5-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers, and will look to continue picking up points to maintain their standing in a tough Metropolitan Division. The Sabres last played on January 11 picking up a 3-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
This is the Rangers' last game of their current home stand, and will next play in Colorado on Saturday afternoon. The Rangers' lineup is expected to be the same as Tuesday's with the lone replacement being Steven Kampfer for Marc Staal. Staal left Tuesday's game with a hip flexor, and he remains day-to-day.
