Open Game Thread: Rangers vs Wild

With the Round of 32 in the NCAA March Madness tournament well underway, you’d be hard pressed to find out that there are actually other sporting events going on tonight, like the hockey game between the New York Rangers and Minnesota Wild.the puck drops at 7:00 EDT, which is odd because the game is at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Anyway, this is shaping up to be a good matchup. Like clockwork, Bruce Boudreau’s Wild squad is competing with the Chicago Blackhawks to win the Central Division title. If his team can pull it off and earn the top seed in the Central Division, (and most likely the Western Conference as a whole) it’ll mark the 9th consecutive full season that a Boudreau-coached team won it’s division. Meanwhile, the Rangers are “competing” with Pittsburgh for the first Wild Card spot to “earn” the right to cross into the Atlantic Division side of the playoff bracket and avoid other Metropolitan Division teams until the conference finals.

Enjoy the game!
