Preseason Game #3: New Jersey Devils vs New York Rangers Open Thread

The New York Rangers are 0-2 to start the season, but hey, it's only the preseason. The Blueshirts are coming off a 4-3 loss against the New York Islanders, which featured a lineup that will consist of most of the players making the opening night roster. The New Jersey Devils, on the other hand, are 2-0 this preseason, with their last game having been against the Blueshirts.

The Rangers are rolling a roster of mostly younger players but will feature a mix of NHL and AHL players for the upcoming season. Liam Greentree is once again suiting up in what will be his third consecutive game. Joonas Korpisalo will play the entire game between the pipes, and Dylan Garand will back him up. The Devils are also rolling out a lineup of similarly experienced players as they look to advance to 3-0 this preseason.

Player to Watch: Cole Beaudoin

Cole Beaudoin was part of the return in the deal that sent Vincent Trocheck to the Utah Mammoth, marking another investment in young players. Beaudoin spent the past season with the Barrie Colts of the OHL, where he was over a point per game player. He also represented Canada at the World Juniors, where he netted seven points in as many games.

Beaudoin netted a goal in the Rangers previous game and is one of the only legit center prospects in the prospect pool. His NHL outlook has ranged from second line center to fourth liner depending on who you ask. The Rangers have aging centers and the proper development of Beaudoin is essential to their future.
