Quick on IR, Parssinen Held Out for ‘Roster Management’
Jusso Parssinen's days in New York could be numbered as he's being held out for “roster management.”
Following the New York Rangers 3-2 win against the St. Louis Blues, a number of updates on injuries and other situations have come out of the teams morning skate.
Jonathan Quick has been moved to IR with what is being labeled a lower-body injury. This came during a collision with Michael Carcone in the Utah game over the weekend. With that, Dylan Garand will likely remain with the team and could even get a start with the Rangers playing back-to-back games this Friday and Saturday.
Both J.T. Miller and Will Borgen, who have missed the last few games with injuries of their own, are skating in non-contact jerseys. It's unclear how long they will remain out of the picture, but with Quick moving to IR a roster spot opens up which will allow the Rangers to call up a seventh defenseman, likely Scott Morrow.
Lastly, and perhaps most interesting, Jusso Parssinen—who has only skated in 14 games with the Rangers this season—is not skating with the team for what is being labeled as "roster management purposes.”

Juuso Pärssinen is not skating for roster management purposes, the team said.
It's hard to believe the Rangers would hold a player they intend on waiving out of the lineup, which could mean there is chance the Rangers are working on a trade involving Parssinen. It's worth noting that some noise has come out of Vancouver indicating they could be looking to move some veterans. However, I'm not sure how many options there would be both a fit for the Rangers and hold similar value to Jusso Parssinen.
At the time of writing, there haven't been any rumors specifically tied to Parssinen but it will certainly be something to keep an eye out for.
The Rangers practice lines looked identical to how they lined up last night against the Blues:
