Rangers Acquire Jean-Francois Berube From Philadelphia

The New York Rangers have made their second acquisition of the week as they acquired Jean-Francois Berube from the Philadelphia Flyers, the team announced Wednesday night. The return for the Flyers will be named at a later date.

Jean-Francois Berube was signed to a one-year, two-way contract back in July and has appeared in 28 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. In 28 games in the American Hockey League, Berube has posted a 12-11-4 record to go along with his .905 save percentage.

Berube’s acquisition is likely meant for the Hartford Wolf Pack, who are desperately in need of a veteran goaltender. The Wolf Pack currently reside second in the Atlantic Division and Berube provides them with some insurance heading into the final stretch of the regular season. The Rangers will likely be one of the more active teams heading into Monday’s trade deadline, so this probably won’t be the last we hear of them for the week.
