Due to changes with the latest Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NHL and the NHLPA, preseasons will be shorter and the regular season will extend by two games beginning this season. As a result, the Rangers will play a total of four preseason games instead of the usual six, all against the New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders.
They will kick off the preseason on Monday, September 21st and will conclude on Friday the 25th. It is expected that the NHL regular season will begin sometime in late September, tentatively the 29th.
