Rangers Announce First Round Of Cuts

Prior to tonight’s opening preseason game against the New York Islanders, the New York Rangers have made their first round of cuts. According to an official team release, the Rangers have trimmed their training camp roster by 13 players this evening, and now have 50 players remaining in camp.

Adam Chapie, Troy Donnay, Michael Joly, and Ahti Oksanen were assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack, while Matt Carey, Spiro Goulakos, Garrett Noonan, Nick Betz, Reid Duke, and Joseph Raaymakers were released from their tryout agreements. Carey, Chapie, Donnay, Duke, Goulakos, Joly, Noonan and Oksanan will all report to the Wold Pack training camp, where they will attempt to earn a spot on the AHL roster.

Obviously there were no major surprises at the end of the day, but as training camp moves along, we’ll start getting down to the more prominent moves. With that being said, we finally have some New York Rangers hockey to enjoy tonight, so stay tuned for the upcoming game thread.
