The deal carries an average annual value of $875,000, and is a two-way contract in year one and a one-way contract in year two.
Garand, 24, made his NHL debut on March 22 against the Winnipeg Jets and went on to appear in three games with the Rangers this season. Over that span, he posted a record of 2-0-1 with a 1.62 goals against average and a .948 save percentage.
In 36 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack last season, Garand went 16-15-2 with a 2.83 GAA and a .896 SV%. In 148 career AHL regular season games, all with Hartford, Garand has gone 65-57-18 with a 2.90 GAA and a .901 SV%. He's also recorded nine shutouts, three assists, and eight penalty minutes in his AHL career. Garand's 148 games played for the Wolf Pack are the second-most among goaltenders in franchise history, trailing only Jason LaBarbera (182).
Garand has also appeared in 17 playoff contests with Hartford; in those games, he has a 10-7-0 record, a 2.21 GAA, and a .927 SV%.
Garand was an AHL All-Star in the 2025 season, and won AHL Goaltender of the Month honors in December 2024. He became the first Wolf Pack netminder to win the award since Igor Shesterkin did so in October 2019.
With Jonathan Quick officially retiring following the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, Garand is the leading candidate to share the Rangers' net with Shesterkin next season. The 103rd overall pick in the 2020 NHL entry draft will have the opportunity to earn a spot on the opening night roster for the first time in his career come training camp.
