Rangers News: Rangers Re-Sign Brandon Prust (UPDATE)

Confirmed by various tweets the New York Rangers and Brandon Prust have agreed to terms. The details of those terms however are still unknown, although we will update you all when we get word of what they are.

This signing was a no-brainer, and Glen Sather made it known yesterday that he believed that Prust would be re-signed. Prust--who was really one of the biggest bright spots on the season last year--will join forces with Derek Boogaard in protecting the Rangers corps. Except that Prust has some form of an untapped offensive potential.

When the Calgary deal went down last year most Flames fans were horribly disappointed to lose Prust. many of them said that he was underrated at both ends of the ice, and was actually a very good two way player. Let's hope we see more of that in a full season with him.

Now it's time for Sather to turn to Marc Staal and Dan Girardi and get their contracts done. They should be absolute top priority at this point.

Update by Joe Fortunato: Terms of the deal:

@NYP_Brooksie: Rangers re-sign Group II winger Brandon Prust to two-year deal worth $800,000 per

Well good that he got two years. I'm not going to say the bad, you all know it already.
