Rangers Recall Brett Berard and Brendan Brisson From Hartford, Shesterkin and Fox Practice
With Zibanejad, Miller, and Trocheck in Milan for the 2026 Winter Olympics, the Rangers have recalled two forwards as the team returned to practice.
It's been almost two weeks since the New York Rangers have last played a hockey game, but as we near the start of the medal rounds for the Olympics, the preparations for the league to resume play have begun. With that, the Rangers have announced a pair of roster moves as the team is set to practice for the first time in two weeks this afternoon.
UPDATE: Brett Berard and Brendan Brisson have been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Chances are, both J.T. Miller and Vincent Trocheck will be shut down upon returning from Milan. Miller will likely be placed on injured reserve and Trocheck will be shut down for roster management reasons. Of course, for now, it is being reported that these transactions are more so the Rangers can have a full practice group.

With that in mind, as well as other injury and roster uncertainty, Brett Berard and Brendan Brisson could end up finishing the season with the Rangers. Berard has already appeared in 13 games with the Rangers this season. While he has been held pointless, he has shown he can hang in a bottom-six role at the NHL level.
As for Brisson, it felt like it was only a matter of time for him to finally get that first call up in New York. In 46 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack this season, Brisson has a total of 23 points (13 goals and 10 assists) with eight points in his last ten games. Brisson also represented the Wolf Pack at the AHL All Star weekend.
Other Updates
Important developments from the team's skate this afternoon. Both Igor Shesterkin and Adam Fox have returned to the ice for the Rangers. According to Vince Mercogliano of The Athletic, it appears that everyone is wearing normal colors which would indicate they are full participants and cleared for contact. Fox and Shesterkin are expected to return to action following the Olympic break.

Legendary goaltender coach Benoit Allaire was also at the Rangers skate today working with Igor Shesterkin. Worth noting that one of the organizations depth goaltenders, Hugo Ollas was also there as he was recalled during the Olympic break with Shesterkin still technically on IR and Spencer Martin being assigned to Hartford. Ollas is likely a long ways from sniffing the NHL, if he ever even will but hopefully he was able to get some work in with Allaire and capture some of that magic or inspiration at the very least.

It didn't appear that there were any other specific injury updates however Peter Baugh, also of The Athletic did mention that Adam Edstrom was not at the skate for personal reasons. Edstrom has been out for an extended amount of time with injury but the updates of which have been few and far between.
