Fresh off the New York Rangers' 2-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators in which they struggled to hit double digits on the shots on goal counter, the Rangers have added another young forward to the mix, recalling Adam Sykora from the Hartford Wolf Pack. In a corresponding move, defenseman Connor Mackey will report back to the AHL.

Drafted in the second round of the 2022 draft (63rd overall) Adam Sykora is a 5-10, 179 pound left-shot winger who can play either side and is known to be a hard-working, pesky, defensive forward that likely has a ceiling of a third liner.

Keegan Jarvis will have a deeper dive on Sykora coming this week, but here's what he had to say following the news of his recall:

A lot of similarities to Tye Kartye. Aggressive forechecker, wins puck battles, elite penalty killer and shot blocker. He's having his best season in Hartford and he's still just 21. This is the perfect time to get him some NHL action.

This all rings true as Sykora is one point away from tying his career best. Despite being just 21-years-old, this is the Slovakian winger's third full season of North American professional hockey as he's been with the Wolf Pack since 2023. That year, he finished the year with 66 games played and 23 points split across eight goals and 15 assists. Last season, was his highest point total with nine goals and 21 assists for 30 points in 71 games and this season, he's up to 12 goals and 17 assists for 29 points in 62 games.

In his last five games, Sykora has just a goal and an assist but is coming off an impressive March as he had four goals and five assists in a seven game stretch. The Rangers will visit the Toronto Maple Leafs tomorrow evening as they look to bounce back from their dismal showing against the Senators.
