On Sunday evening, the New York Rangers recalled forward Jaroslav Chmelar from the Hartford Wolf Pack. In a corresponding move, the Rangers assigned forward Brennan Othmann to Hartford.

Chmelar is off to a hot start with the Wolf Pack. In nine games, he's posted two goals and three assists. His five points are tied for third on the team.

Chmelar has found chemistry on the Wolf Pack's top line, skating with Gabe Perreault and Justin Dowling. The three took over Hartford's game against the Charlotte Checkers on Wednesday, combining for three goals and four assists in a 4-1 Wolf Pack win. Chmelar tallied two assists in the contest and has four points (1 G, 3 A) in his last three games.

Chmelar, a 5th-round draft pick (#144) in 2021 out of Providence College, is a 6'5" winger who holds impressive speed and strength on the forecheck. He uses his speed to drive to the net and create chances, while his forechecking allows his line to spend time in the offensive zone.

In 87 career regular-season games for the Wolf Pack, Chmelar has recorded 36 points (16 G, 20 A). He's added two goals and an assist in ten career Calder Cup Playoff games. If he gets into a game, he'll become the second Wolf Pack alumni to debut for the Rangers this season, following Noah Laba.

Othmann, meanwhile, skated in one game with the Rangers after being recalled by the team on October 24th. He logged one shot on goal and was -1 in 12:36 of ice time in the Blueshirts' 5-1 loss to the Calgary Flames on October 26th. He's been a healthy scratch in each of the last three games, so heading to Hartford will give Othmann a chance for more ice time. He'll likely take over Chmelar's spot in Hartford's top six.

In 98 regular-season AHL games, Othmann has tallied 70 points (33 G, 37 A). He posted an additional five points (1 G, 4 A) through ten Calder Cup Playoff games. In 26 NHL games, Othmann has recorded two assists.

The Rangers are next in action on Tuesday, November 4th, hosting the Carolina Hurricanes at Madison Square Garden. Puck drop is set for 7:00 pm.

The Wolf Pack return to action on Friday, November 7th, visiting the Laval Rocket. Puck drop is set for 7:00 pm.
