Rangers Recall Matthew Robertson, Assign Dowling to Hartford
With Glendening in, the Rangers shuffled the roster again before Ottawa. Now eight defensemen are up, and one young blueliner’s ice time is in question.
Ahead of Saturday night's outing on the road against the Ottawa Senators, the New York Rangers have made a pair of roster moves. After reassigning Justin Dowling back to the Hartford Wolf Pack, the team has recalled defenseman Matthew Robertson.

With Luke Glendening officially joining the team, Dowling's services are no longer essential. In four games played with the Rangers this season, Dowling recorded one assist.
As for Robertson, he has collected one assist in the six games he has played in Hartford since the Rangers sent him down. During his stint in the AHL, there were times when Robertson had to be held out of the lineup to abide by the new veteran-limit rules.
With eight defensemen back on the NHL roster, you have to wonder if the Rangers are considering sending Scott Morrow back to the AHL to get the ice time he needs. As I mentioned on X, Jacob Bernard-Docker passed through waivers just the other week. With Daemon Hunt and Jack St. Ivany currently on waivers, it is starting to feel like Morrow could and should clear in the event he is sent down.
Less comparable than Bernard-Docker was but if these two also pass through waivers, #NYR should really consider sending Morrow to Hartford. There’s no reason to keep him and not play him. Call up Robertson or Vaakanainen to sit in the press box. https://t.co/D6RCwGyd9J

The Rangers face off against the Senators Saturday at 7 p.m. ET. The chances are high that Glendening will make his debut with the team.
