Parssinen is another played having an injury plagued season but has been on fire lately with four goals in his last five outings. Appearing in a total of 11 games in Hartford this season, he has collected a total of five goals and one assists for six points. As for Chmelar, he has 25 points spread across eight goals and 17 assists in 46 games played. In his last ten games in Hartford, Chmelar has five points with just one goal and four assists.
As for the guys who went down, this was Brendan Brisson's first taste of NHL action in well over a calendar year. In three games played at the NHL level, he collected one assist and finally got to make his Rangers debut after being acquired it the Reilly Smith trade this time last season. Could he have gotten a longer look? Perhaps, but he will get valuable top line minutes down in Hartford.
In regards to the Scott Morrow of it all, this makes plenty of sense. Mike Sullivan has scratched him in the last four games and appears to have no interest in playing him as things currently stand. Not to mention, the Rangers were carrying eight defensemen with him in the NHL. Morrow will finally get to play in meaningful hockey games after an incredibly long stretch of not playing at all.
As far as what can be expected of Parssinen and Chmelar, they'll surely slot into respective bottom six roles and be looked at to bring some energy and physicality to this Rangers team. Parssinen will look to carry his goalscoring streak to the NHL level as Chmelar will take on some of the physical responsibilities with Matt Rempe and now J.T. Miller both on IR.
