As expected following the Minnesota Golden Gophers 6-2 season-ending loss to the Penn State Nittany Lions last night, senior forward Brody Lamb has signed his entry-level NHL contract with the New York Rangers.

Lamb was a fourth round draft pick (104th overall) by the Rangers in the 2021 draft. He spent the last four seasons at the University of Minnesota where he appeared nearly every game throughout his four years, 152 total. After collecting eight points in his freshman season, Lamb was good for 27 and 26 points the next two seasons. As captain his senior year, he registered a career high of 30 points.

While Minnesota has had a rough year, Lamb was one of the few bright spots as he solidified himself as a top contributor. This is a player that did a little bit of everything for the Gophers as he was utilized on special teams, at his natural position of right wing, and even became the team's top center as the season went on. A right-handed shot who clocks in at 6-1 and 185 pounds, Lamb is a versatile, two-way forward with plenty of skill and a sneaky strong shot.

At this time, the AAV of Lamb's contract has not been reported, but the entry-level contract has term of two-years. Lamb will report to Hartford on an ATO for the rest of the season, similarly to how Noah Laba did at the end of last season. As previously mentioned, Lamb could very well compete for an NHL job as early as next season just as Laba did at the start of this season.
