One shutout was all it took. James Reimer went from a Wolf Pack tryout to a Rangers contract, and the corresponding moves send two players back to Hartford.
Amid the organization's goaltending shortage, the New York Rangers have announced the signing of James Reimer to a one-year contract. Reimer joined the Hartford Wolf Pack on a tryout basis about a week and a half ago.

Reimer made his Wolf Pack debut Friday night against the Providence Bruins. The 16-year veteran recorded a shutout, making 35 saves in the team's 2-0 victory on home ice.
In a corresponding roster move, the Rangers have assigned defenseman Matthew Robertson and goaltender Spencer Martin to Hartford.

Martin's only action came in the Rangers' 7-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils, where he allowed three goals, making 15 saves. Martin will return to the AHL, where he will serve in a goaltending tandem with youngster Callum Tung.
As Joonas Korpisalo remains out with a foot infection, Reimer will act as a veteran presence behind Dylan Garand with the Rangers in the NHL.
The Rangers will host the Los Angeles Kings Monday night before getting a five-day break in the schedule.
