Rangers Sign Luke Glendening to One-Year Contract
Glendening jumps from a PTO to a one-year deal with the Rangers.
Just a couple of days after the New York Rangers picked him up on a professional tryout, Luke Glendening has signed a one-year, $850,000 contract to spend his 14th year in the league with the Blueshirts.

An undrafted center out of the University of Michigan, Glendening made a name for himself winning a Calder Cup with the Grand Rapids Griffins in 2013. Across 24 postseason games that year, Glendening was responsible for 6 goals and 10 assists.
That sparked an eight-year run with the Detroit Red Wings as a reliable bottom six forward. Glendening stands out as a penalty-killing, faceoff specialist who plays with speed and good hockey IQ. Throughout his 934 career games in the league, Glendening also spent time with the Dallas Stars, Tampa Bay Lightning, New Jersey Devils, and, most recently, the Philadelphia Flyers.
Between the Devils and Flyers, Glendening was responsible for 2 goals and 7 assists in 70 games during the 2025-26 season.
While Justin Dowling has done a noble job of slotting in as the team's fourth-line center—even picking up an assist in the 5-4 loss in Toronto—Glendening brings more experience and expertise as an NHL fourth-line role player.
With a handful of practices and a new contract under his belt, Glendening could make his Rangers debut this weekend, as the team is set to visit the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night.
