Rangers Sign RFA D William Trudeau to One-Year Contract
Acquired in the Brett Berard trade, the Rangers have inked Trudeau to a one-year, two-way deal.
The New York Rangers have taken care of one of their qualified restricted free agent defensemen, as they lock up the recently acquired William Trudeau on a one-year, two-way contract that carries an AAV of $850,000. His salary at the AHL level will be $200,000.

A 23-year-old, left-shot defenseman, Trudeau was drafted in the fourth round (113th overall) in 2021 and is coming off his second contract with the Montreal Canadiens, his first following his entry-level deal. After four seasons with the Laval Rocket of the AHL where he averaged 22.5 points per, Trudeau joins a now crowded blueline in the Rangers system. His regular season totals for lasts season came in the form of eight goals, 12 assists, for 20 points in 62 games played,
Trudeau will surely start the season in the AHL where he is expected to play a key role on the Hartford Wolf Pack's blue line. As needed, he can potentially fill in as a call up option for the Rangers if injuries arise. His experience will be of use in Hartford as he comes in with 260 career games played, 28 goals, 62 assists, for 90 career points.
