Rangers Sign Victor Mancini to Entry-Level Contract
The Rangers have announced the signing of Victor Mancini, their 5th round draft pick from the 2022 Entry Draft.
Selected 159th overall, Mancini is a 6”4 right-handed shot defenseman fresh off his junior year at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. In 40 games, Mancini registered 4 goals and 6 assists for a total of 10 points. Across his three seasons with the Mavericks, Mancini put up a total of 4 goals and 19 assists for 23 points. Prior to his years in Omaha, Mancini split time between the USHL and the Swe-Jr League where he saw the bulk of his success on the scoresheet. (14 goals and 10 assists with Vastra Frolunda Jr)
As a big bodied, right handed shot defender, Mancini is a General Manager’s dream but still has some work to do regarding his all around game. He’s a good, agile skater who isn’t afraid to bring a physical presence but has the tendency to create problems for himself defensively. Nevertheless, his skill set outweighs his shortcomings which are mainly things that can be improved upon with the right development. It’s been a tough season on the back end for both the Rangers and the Wolf Pack injury wise, so bringing on another defenseman will certainly help out from an organizational standpoint.
