Rangers Trim Roster Again, Assign Five Players to Hartford

The New York Rangers continue to make roster decisions as they have assigned Jacob Battaglia, Brody Lamb, Dylan Roobroeck, and Callum Tung to the Hartford Wolf Pack. Additionally, Spencer Martin has cleared waivers and will also report to Hartford.

As mentioned yesterday, it's not a surprise that Martin has cleared waivers. He and Callum Tung, who was the lone Rangers goaltender not to see any preseason game action, will wait and see how the battle for the backup goaltending job with the Rangers goes to determine if a third netminder will share the crease with them in Hartford this season.

As for the forwards, Roobroeck was the only one of the three to appear in both preseason games. After a strong rookie camp which included a goal, Roobroeck finished camp a +1 with one shot on goal, one blocked shot, three hits, and 29:05 of ice time across two games played. Battaglia and Lamb both appeared in game on of preseason as Battaglia had one shot on goal and one block and Lamb an assist and a -2 rating.

All three forwards are expected to play important roles with the Wolf Pack this season. Roobroeck is entering his third full season of professional hockey, while Battaglia and Lamb are set to begin their rookie seasons. Lamb appeared in 15 games for Hartford once the NCAA season ended, registering four goals and five assists for nine points.

The Rangers will likely make most, if not all, of their remaining cuts by the weekend as they are set to play their final two games of preseason tonight and tomorrow night. The Wolf Pack kick off their season Saturday Night in Pennsylvania, taking on the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
