Rangers vs. Flyers: Same Old Rangers
Vincent Trocheck survived, Igor Shesterkin did everything he could, and the Rangers still lost—because of course they did.
- I need to get this out of the way at the top: My Joe's Reaction of the Week was written right after the Team USA won gold. Yesterday, before the game, I added a couple of things at the end. Then after the game last night, there was the below. So, uh, I guess I wasn't overreacting on the podcast (even before Adam Fox answered the question like that).
- Another thing to get out of the way near the top: Why the hell was Vincent Trocheck playing? I was at the game and watched as though he were a Fabergé egg. I genuinely think the Rangers played him so he could be on the ice for the gold medal celebration, and he'll either be sat or traded moving forward. He didn't get hurt, but it's just plain stupid to play him in that game.
- And did it even matter? Sure, the Rangers were up 2-0 and had a lead, but they lost, like this team always does.
- Olympians were out in full force tonight. Trocheck looked fine, to be honest. He was skating and actually trying, had an assist, and missed a tip right in front on the power play to end things. Keep that trade value up!
