Rangers vs. Islanders: Scoreless Yet Again
One minute in, game over—an early mistake and zero scoring punch defined another dull, frustrating Rangers performance.
- First things first, he's the greatest. Greatest generation, that is. That National Anthem from 104-year-old World War II veteran Dominick Critelli was absolutely incredible. And he didn't just play it and play it well. He added some flourish and some embellishments. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that around 45,000 WWII veterans are still with us. That's out of over 16 million who fought in the conflict. We'll soon be without anyone who fought in that great war. We should cherish them all while they're with us.

- The game that followed it? Decidedly less awesome.
- The game-winning goal came before the first minute of the game expired, resurrecting an old awful Rangers tradition (surrendering a goal in the first minute of play) in furtherance of a new awful Rangers tradition (getting shutout).
- That Anders Lee goal was just the result of sloppiness in their own end. Not a great look here from Carson Soucy. (It would not be his last not-great look of the night.)

- After giving up that early goal, the Rangers bounced right back by ... not recording a single shot on goal for more than 10 minutes. And, on top of that, only recording a single shot attempt in that 10 minute span. So yeah, that's not good.
