Rangers vs. Senators: True Representation
Four goals, no win, and no answers—just draft math, trade deadline thoughts, and growing doubts about J.T. Miller.
- My dad, who grew up in Queens, always enjoyed telling me about the joke made at the expense of the 120-loss 1962 New York Mets:
"Did you hear the Mets scored 19 runs today?"
"Yeah? Did they win?"
- That's how I feel about this game.
The New York Rangers scored four goals today! Four!
Yeah? Did they win?
- They, of course, did not win.
- I'm honestly not sure what to even say about that game that hasn't been said a dozen times before, or that we didn't shout about on the podcast this week. I said that in the Banter Slack and Snark Messier suggested I just drop in an image of a dumpster on fire and ship it. So...

- The one bright spot in that game was Gabe Perreault, who had his first two-goal game in the NHL. And both goals were excellent, the first being a give-and-go where he sneaks behind the Ottawa defense:

- And the second goal? Just as nice.
If there's any silver lining, Gabe Perreault looks like he's on FIRE 🔥

- Going forward Perreault should either be sent back to Hartford to get him as far away as possible from this damaged, exposed radioactive core of an excuse for a hockey team, or he should be fed first line minutes for the rest of the season to see what he can do in spite of all of that. One or the other.
- Again, other than that, I don't know what to say here. Joe and I commented on the podcast that we haven't talked granularly about what's happened in the games themselves in quite a while. Possibly not since the first week of the season. And, being honest, who wants to talk granularly about that game?
