BSB Reacts: Confidence Poll

Rangers fans are brimming with confidence heading into RTP

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NHL. Each week, we send out questions to the most plugged in Rangers fans, and fans across the country. Sign up here to join Reacts.

With play about to resume in the NHL, fans can again turn to the on-ice action. For Rangers fans, that’s mostly a good thing. According to SB Nation’s Reacts survey, 91 percent of New York fans are confident the team is headed in the right direction, a downtick from 100 percent in mid-March.

So, where is all of this confidence coming from? Maybe folks are just jazzed about hockey (maybe) coming back, or people are feeling good about the Blueshirts chances against the Carolina Hurricanes, or they are thinking about the silver lining of losing to Carolina and having a chance to get that first overall pick. Honestly, who the hell knows at this point?

The bottom line is that there’s plenty to be excited about if you’re a Rangers fan right now. The prospect pool is deep and rich, Igor Shesterkin looks like an absolute stud, and Artemiy Panarin is a Ted Lindsay finalist as a result of one of the best individual seasons by a player in Rangers history. Six more years of Panarin at $11,642,857? Sounds good.

On the other hand, the flat cap for the next few years will make things very interesting when it comes time to hammer out new deals for Tony DeAngelo, Ryan Strome, and Brendan Lemieux. When the offseason begins there are a bunch of dominoes ready to fall — including decisions on Henrik Lundqvist and RFA Alexandar Georgiev — that will shape the future of the franchise.

So, how confident are you about the Rangers and the direction they are headed right now? Let us know in the comments section. Stay safe.
