Report: Martin St. Louis Will Not Return To The New York Rangers

Martin St. Louis isn't planning on calling it quits just yet, but his run as a New York Ranger has officially come to an end.

Amidst all of the rumors flying around today on the draft floor, Larry Brooks finally broke some expected news on the Martin St. Louis front. According to the report, Martin St. Louis has decided to play at least another season in the NHL, but he will no longer be calling Madison Square Garden home with the New York Rangers.

It was pretty much a foregone conclusion at this point that St. Louis was going to be a casualty of the Rangers cap crunch, and this report pretty much seals the deal. The Rangers have plenty of bigger pieces to worry about this summer, and unfortunately St. Louis just wasn't in the plans moving forward. There's also no denying that St. Louis had quite the drop off this season, which was summed up by a massive tailspin in the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

While St. Louis certainly made some lasting memories during his short stay in New York, the Rangers made the right call by moving on and focusing on the future.
