Every NWHL player is dealing with the offseason and the upcoming free agency period in their own way, the captain of the New York Riveters made her plans for the summer known to her twitter followers on Sunday night.
New York Riveters' captain Ashley "Stretch" Johnston recently announced that she will be launching her own summer hockey camp for elite female athletes. Johnston's hockey camp will take place at Clifton Park Center in New York about three hours north of the Riveters' home ice at the Aviator Sports and Events Center in Brooklyn. Clifton Park ice Arena is less than a 20 minute drive from Schenectady, New York and the campus of Johnston's alma matter at Union College.
About the camp itself:
The Johnston Hockey Summer High Performance Camp has been created to provide the best player development for high school aged female hockey players both on and off the ice.
This camp will provide professional level training and teach players how to train like pro athletes.
We are looking for the best players in the Capital region to help develop them throughout the off season into top notch players. Johnston Hockey prioritizes development in the following four main areas:
-Positional and Game Knowledge
Johnston's hockey camp promises 12 weeks of professional-level training for exceptional young female athletes with aspirations of playing college and/or professional hockey. The camp spans from June 13th to August 30th and will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
