Ryan Lindgren Will Not Be Suspended for Hit on Joonas Donskoi
Ryan Lindgren had a hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety, and it was determined that he will not be suspended for his hit on Joonas Donskoi.
(1/2) After thoroughly reviewing all available video and following a telephone hearing today, the Department of Player Safety has determined that there will be no supplemental discipline assessed to NY Rangers’ Ryan Lindgren for his hit against Colorado’s Joonas Donskoi.

The league commented that Lindgren’s approach, actual hit and follow through was done so in a way that the contact made did not violate Rule 48.1.
(2/2) While there was significant head contact on this play, Lindgren took a proper angle of approach, did not extend outward or upward and hit through Donskoi’s core. Therefore, under Rule 48.1 (i), the head contact was determined to be unavoidable.

Ryan Lindgren To Have Hearing With NHL Department of Player Safety
The Rangers play tomorrow at home vs. New Jersey, and because the team didn’t practice on Wednesday there’s been no update on Lindgren’s availability. Brendan Smith shifted back to defense to end the game, and if Lindgren were to sit out, someone such as Micheal Haley could skate on the fourth line.
Late addition, but even though the ruling was made before the Hartford Wolf Pack played, Yegor Rykov was held out of the lineup.
