St. Louis Blues at New York Rangers: Open Game Thread

Opening the thread early today, you guys can talk football or whatever while you get ready for the game, here are a few notes heading into tonight's game:

Marian Gaborik is getting closer, according to Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants:

Marian Gaborik, out since Oct. 15 with a separated left shoulder, participated in the Rangers’ morning skate for the third straight time and will be examined by the team’s doctors tonight. Gaborik hopes if all goes well, he’ll be cleared for contact drills, which is the last step before returning to the lineup, something Gaborik has said he hopes to do during the four-game homestand that opens tonight against the Blues.

Martin Biron is going to get the start tonight in goal for the Rangers.

Ryan Callahan will play.

Larry Brooks talked about how the short-handed Rangers have stepped up:

Nothing has come easy for this club that has scored an average of 2.92 goals per game -- up from last year's 2.67 without even one from the injured Marian Gaborik, the only player on the training camp roster capable of scoring an easy goal or 40, with easy defined as a first-shot from the circles or beyond.

On the Blues: St. Louis Post Dispatch

The Blues will be playing their second game in as many nights, after playing at Boston on Saturday. Goaltender Ty Conklin is expected to make his second start of the season. Conklin has not played since he backstopped a tie and overtime-shootout loss in Dallas on Oct. 16. Conklin turned away 23 of 25 shots against the Stars.
