Steven Kampfer out 4-6 weeks with broken hand

The injuries just keep piling up. The Rangers have called up Ryan Sproul from the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Remember that story we had go up at 4:00 p.m. about the Wolf Pack’s roster going through a ton of changes? Well, it already needs to be updated.

The Rangers just announced that defenseman Steven Kampfer will miss 4-6 weeks with a broken hand. Ryan Sproul, the first star of the Wolf Pack’s most recent victory, has been called up.

Sproul was a second round pick of the Detroit Red Wings in 2011. He played 27 games with Detroit last season. Sproul became a Ranger on October 21 in the deal that sent Matt Puempel to the Red Wings. He has nine goals and nine assists in 36 games with the Wolf Pack this season.

The Wolf Pack are red hot right now

Kampfer has played over 20 minutes in three straight games for the Rangers. Yesterday he logged 22:39 against the Winnipeg Jets in the Rangers 3-1 victory. Kampfer has one assist in 22 games with the Blueshirts this season. The veteran defenseman is signed through the 2018-19 season.
