Rangers News: Traverse City Tournament Roster Announced

Hat tip to Steve Zipay for getting this out there. The Rangers have released a roster of the players that they will send to Traverse city to participate in the annual prospect tournament. Here are the players Zipay named, make sure to check after the jump for more information:

Forwards: Daniel Bartek (invitee), Ryan Bourque, Chris Chappell, Paul Crowder, Craig Cunningham (invitee), Grachev, Roman Horak, Luke Pither (invitee), Justin Soryal, Luke Walker (invitee), Dale Weise, Ethan Werek.

Defensemen: Mike Berube (invitee), Del Zotto, Tysen Dowzak, Mitch Gaulton, Trevor Glass (invitee), Samuel Klassen, Tomas Kundratek, Daniel Maggio

Goalies: Chad Johnson, Scott Stajcer

More players will be released in the coming days. As of right now it would appear that the Rangers are taking good hard looks at Del Zotto and Evgeny Grachev. Obviously out of everyone on that roster they have the best shots of making the big club, but they would have to have unbelievable camps.

Zipay gave us a little more information on one of the invitee's Luke Walker:

Luke Walker, a 19-year-old center who scored 29 goals for the Western Hockey League's Portland Winterhawks has been invited to participate in the Traverse City tourney, according to After the Whistle, a team-sponsored website. Luke's dad, Gord, played left wing in 19 games with the Rangers in 1986-87 and 1987-88 and was 2-4-6.

Seems like a pretty nice catch if you ask me. I looked up this years WHL top 10 draft picks and here are how their numbers stacked up goal wise.

Evander Kane: 48 goals
Brayden Schenn: 32 goals
Scott Glennie: 28 (only played in 55 games)

Not saying he is going to be the next Gretzky but no need not to give him a peek. He also added 23 assists for 52 points in 71 games, not bad.

As for Jim being on vacation I ask that you direct all of you're e-mails to me: rangersreport@gmail.com.  Anything you need to know or say I would be happy to hear or answer; this goes for all the time not just now. Thanks guys.
