What Will Happen To Blueshirt Banter During The Lockout

You know, in the grand scheme of things, myself, Blueshirt Banter and SB Nation Hockey as a whole aren’t very important when it comes to the NHL Lockout.

The most important parties — and often the most forgotten about — are the people who work for the teams and the arenas who now won’t be able to make that money to support themselves and their families. Those are the people you should truly feel bad for. Not the owners or the players.

Yes, Blueshirt Banter is going to take a major hit if this lockout lasts. We’re already seeing drastic declines in visits, views and comments. For the first time in my 15 months running Blueshirt Banter, the site will not grow year to year. It can’t be helped, this is a hockey blog after all, and it’s hard to draw numbers without, well, hockey.

Still, I don’t want you guys to think this place is just going to shut down while the NHL locks out. It won’t. And if you join me after the jump, I’ll explain some of the things me and the boys have been planning to make sure this is still your number one source for New York Rangers news and analysis.

Here are a few of the things we will definitly be doing during the lockout:

– It’s a safe bet to assume Chris Kreider will go to the AHL and play with the Connecticut Whale. We’ll be following him every step of the way.

– Speaking of following Rangers players wearing different uniforms, if any Rangers sign with other teams during the course of the negotiations, we’ll have all that information right here. You can also bet we’ll be following each and every one of those players with their new teams to see how they’re doing.

– Speaking of the Whale, we’ll be covering the Whale on a weekly basis. It’s the closest thing to New York Rangers hockey we’ll have over the course of these negotiations.

– We will also be checking in on how all the Rangers’ top prospects are doing around the world of hockey. Without the Rangers to focus on we’ll have more time to lock in on some of the bigger names in the Rangers’ prospect pool.

Here’s the other thing. We want to hear from you guys too. What do you guys want to see covered during the lockout? Let us know in the comments to we can make sure to continue to give you guys the coverage you want.

Remember, we’re all in this together.
