Wolf Pack Fall to Checkers 4-2
Despite a strong road effort, the Wolf Pack couldn't find two points in the Queen City.
The Hartford Wolf Pack wrapped up their weekend set in Charlotte on Saturday night, taking on the Checkers at Bojangles Coliseum. Hartford sought revenge for their 2-1 loss on Friday night, while the home side eyed a weekend sweep.
The Wolf Pack would overcome one two-goal deficit, but a second one would be too much for them. Charlotte would eventually take a 4-2 decision to sweep the weekend set.
Here's Jaro
For the second time in as many nights, the Checkers broke the ice. Brett Chorske found the back of the net on the first shot of the game just over a minute after puck drop.
Veteran defenseman Tobias Björnfot doubled the lead just over five minutes later, floating a shot on net that slipped by Gabriel Carriere.
However, the Wolf Pack would cut the lead in half two minutes later. A tripping call against Kai Schwindt initiated the first power play of the game. On the ensuing man advantage, Glenn Gawdin fired a shot on net. Jaroslav Chmelař cut to the net and deflected the bid by Cooper Black to get Hartford on the board.

The goal was the first of the season for Chmelař, who was assigned to Hartford by the New York Rangers on Friday. The goal also snapped Charlotte's successful penalty kill stretch; the Checkers had killed off 19 straight penalties to start the season.
Hartford had a few more chances in the remainder of the frame, but they couldn't find the twine, and the game entered the first intermission with the home side ahead 2-1.
Going Green
The Wolf Pack tied the contest just under four minutes into the second period. A tripping call against Schwindt sent Hartford to their third power play of the night. During the bid, Gawdin fired a shot towards the net. Liam Greentree got a piece of it and tipped it into the net to even the score at two.

The goal was Greentree's third of the season, tying him for the team lead. Gawdin and Del Gaizo each picked up their second assist of the night on the play.
However, the Checkers would wrestle control back midway through the period. Jack Devine ripped a shot over the shoulder of Carriere to reinstate the lead. Charlotte took the 3-2 margin into the second intermission.
About the Process

A tripping minor against Gawdin about seven minutes into the final frame sent the Checkers to their only power play bid of the night. They capitalized, with Angus Crookshank jamming a puck by Carriere to double the lead.
Hartford made a strong push in the waning minutes of regulation, firing 15 shots on Black throughout the final 20 minutes and ultimately winning the shot battle 35-30. However, the Charlotte netminder stood tall, denying all of them and preventing any chances of a comeback bid.
The Checkers held on, cementing the 4-2 final and sweeping the weekend set.
