After a strong third period led them to victory on opening night, the Hartford Wolf Pack returned to action on Sunday evening aiming to start the 2026-27 season with two straight victories. They remained in Pennsylvania, visiting the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for the first time this season.

The Wolf Pack would once again concede the first goal, but a strong team effort helped lead to victory. Hartford struck three times to eventually take a 3-2 win and start the season 2-0-0-0.

On The Marc

The Penguins would get the icebreaker early in the contest. Jake Livanavage floated a shot that snuck over the blocker of Callum Tung to give the home side the game's first lead.

Tung settled down from there, turning away 12 of the 13 shots he faced in the opening frame. At the other end, Taylor Gauthier stopped all six shots he saw as the Penguins took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

A holding call against Owen Pickering sent the Wolf Pack to the power play just 21 seconds into the middle frame. On the man advantage, Marc Del Gaizo fired a shot from the top of the zone that zipped through traffic and into the net, tying the score at one.

Cole Beaudoin and Liam Greentree each picked up assists on the goal, giving them points in their first two professional games.

The Penguins challenged the goal for offsides, but the tally stood.

Radd News

The Wolf Pack took their first lead of the night just under the 15 minute mark in the frame. Beaudoin swiped a puck low in the offensive zone and threw a backwards pass out in front. Taylor Raddysh, cutting to the net, grabbed the feed and flicked it by Gauthier to put Hartford ahead.

The goal was Raddysh's second in as many games, while the assist gave Beaudoin his second straight multi-point game. Beaudoin has recorded at least two points in each of his first two professional games.

The Wolf Pack would eventually take the 2-1 lead into the second intermission.

A Dart from Aspinall

The teams traded opportunities in the third period, but eventually Hartford would find insurance. A slashing call against Oliver Okuliar initiated the fifth Wolf Pack power play bid of the contest. In the waning seconds of the man advantage, Glenn Gawdin took a shot from the left wall that Gauthier denied. However, the rebound popped right to Nathan Aspinall, who fired a shot past the sliding netminder to put the Wolf Pack up by two.

The goal was Aspinall's first as a professional, making him the second Wolf Pack player to record his first professional goal this season.

A tripping call against Drew Fortescue sent the Penguins to a late power play, and Avery Hayes stuffed a puck home to cut the deficit to one. The Penguins would get another power play bid as Anton Blidh took a tripping minor with 39 seconds remaining, but the Wolf Pack killed off the penalty to seal the 3-2 victory. With the win, the Wolf Pack begin the season 2-0-0-0, the first time they've done so since the 2023-24 season.
