2019 Stanley Cup Finals: Game 7 Open Thread

It all comes down to this.

After splitting the first six games of the Finals, the St. Louis Blues and Boston Bruins will meet in the final game of the 2018-19 NHL campaign tonight. Over eight months after the season started back on October 3rd, 2018, the Blues and Bruins are set to clash one final time to determine the 2019 Stanley Cup Champion.

The Blues are looking to avoid becoming the first time blow a 3-2 lead in the Finals since the 2011 Vancouver Canucks, who let these same Bruins turn a 3-2 defecit into a 4-3 victory. Should the Blues head into the City of Champions and send the hometown fans home unsatisfied, they’ll secure the franchise’s first Stanley Cup in their 52 year franchise history. A championship will also leave the Toronto Maple Leafs as the closest team to lasting 54+ years without a championship, so seeing the Blues stay in that company would be good.

As for the Bruins, they’ll be looking to end the City of Champions’ excruciatingly long title drought. It’s been a whole 129 days since the New England Patriots brought the latest championship to Title Town, and the Bruins are poised to finally end the city’s suffering. The Bruins’ dominant wins of 4-2, 7-2, and 5-1 stand in stark contrast to the 3-2, 4-2, and 2-1 victories the Blues have eked out. If the hockey gods are looking to dispense justice tonight, the Bruins’ domination throughout the series will culminate in a championship.
