Henrik Lundqvist Named All Star for 5th Time in NHL Career
Lundqvist is the Rangers’ lone representative.

Lundqvist represented the Rangers at the All Star Game last year, and was previously named to the 2009, 2011 and 2012 games. This is different from the NHL’s All Star team, an end of year honor that Lundqvist received for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.
In a Metropolitan Division flush with skilled forwards — and no standout defensemen of note for the Rangers — this choice isn’t a surprising one.
It would have been nice to see someone like Mika Zibanejad (34 points in 38 games), Kevin Hayes (33 points in 38 games) or Chris Kreider (20 goals and 31 points in 38 games) get recognized, but the division is just so deep for them to break through.
In fact, as of this writing Nicklas Backstrom, Artemi Panarin, Evgeni Malkin are on the outside looking in for the Metropolitan division. It is worse in other divisions as players like Brayden Point, Mitch Marner, Jeff Skinner, Patrik Laine, Gabriel Landeskog are currently out of the picture.
Lundqvist has a record of 12-9-7 with a 2.81 goals against average and a .916 save percentage. He is also rocking a GSAA (goals saved above average) of 6.96 which is seventh in the NHL among all goalies, and an even strength save percentage of 93.11 which is 15th among goalies who have played at least 500 minutes according to Corsica.Hockey. He also ranks fourth in shots faced (973) and fourth in total saves (891).
