Official: Rangers sign free agent forward Micheal Haley

It’s a done deal

As first reported by Rick Carpiniello, the New York Rangers have officially signed free agent veteran forward Micheal Haley.

From the Rangers’ release:

Haley, 33, skated in five of the Rangers’ six preseason games this year while attending Training Camp on a Professional Tryout (PTO). He registered one goal and 19 penalty minutes in the preseason this year, and he tied for fifth in the NHL in penalty minutes in the 2019 preseason.

Haley earned three fighting majors in the preseason. Last season, he earned 75 PIM in 45 games split between the Florida Panthers and the San Jose Sharks. This marks the beginning of Haley’s second stint with the Rangers. He appeared in nine regular season games and two postseason contests in 2012-13 and spent the entirety of the 2013-14 season with the Hartford Wolf Pack.

In other Rangers-related news, Boo Nieves cleared waivers and has been assigned to Hartford.
