Game #23: Carolina Hurricanes vs New York Rangers Open Thread

It’s Thanksgiving Eve, and what better way to spend a night like this than sitting in traffic on the way to your in-laws? How about a Rangers game?

You’re in luck, because the Rangers are set to welcome the Carolina Hurricanes into Madison Square Garden in their final game before turkey day. Riding the high of back-to-back come from behind victories over Montreal and Minnesota, David Quinn’s squad will look to make it three wins in a row against Andrei Svechnikov, Joel Edmundson, and the rest of Rod Brind’Amour’s team.

The Blueshirts already won the first game of the season series, a 4-2 victory in Raleigh on November 7th. Even with that loss, the Hurricanes come into action tonight with stellar 15-8-1 record, so it’ll be another measuring stick game for coach Quinn’s group.

Player to Watch: Mika Zibanejad

After being on the receiving end of a check from Patrice Bergeron on Ocotber 27th, Zibanejad has been out of the lineup for the last 13 contests with a concussion an upper body injury. He’ll make his return to the ice tonight, and he’ll be flanked by Chris Kreider and Pavel Buchnevich, reuniting the “KZB Line” for the first time this season. Look for Zibanejad to make his presence known early and often.

Enjoy the game!
