Game #39: New York Rangers vs Edmonton Oilers Open Thread

After embarking on a west coast swing through California earlier this month, the Rangers have traveled across the continent once again. Tonight’s game in Edmonton marks the beginning of the Blueshirts’ annual road trip through western Canada, as they’ll look to avoid getting swept by Connor McDavid’s Oilers’ in the season series.

The Oilers walked into Madison Square Garden back on October 12th and handed David Quinn’s squad their first defeat of the season by a 4-1 margin. Although the 2019 calendar year has been a rough one for the Blueshirts, a win tonight to kickstart the road trip could go a long way towards building momentum for a successful 2020.

Player to Watch: Ryan Strome

Since arriving on Broadway via a trade from Edmonton last season, Strome has been the only Ranger to skate in every game. Strome tallied 35 points in 81 games split between these two teams during the 2018-19 campaign, but he’s already managed to match that number through 38 games in his first full season in New York. Centering Artemiy Panarin for the majority of the season has been a boon for Strome, and look for him to continue his scoring in tonight’s revenge game.

Emjoy the game!
