The Rangers are trading center Kevin Hayes to the Winnipeg Jets in return for forward Brendan Lemieux, a first-round pick, and a conditional draft pick, according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie.

Lemieux, 22, has nine goals and two assists in 44 games this season. The son of former NHLer Claude Lemieux is a physical, checking forward. He has upside as a bottom-six forward.

The first-round pick is Winnipeg’s 2019 selection, per TSN’s Darren Dreger.

UPDATE: Per The Athletic’s Craig Custance, the Rangers will also receive a 2022 fourth-round pick if Winnipeg wins the Stanley Cup this season.
