Rangers Cut Four More from Training Camp Roster

The New York Rangers announced four more cuts from the team’s training camp roster, as Joey Keane, Mason Geertsen, Patrick Newell, and Gabriel Fontaine were reassigned, leaving 41 players still on the training camp roster.

All four players will report to the Hartford Wolf Pack’s training camp. The Rangers now have 24 forwards and 13 defensemen, along with four goaltenders.

Forwards (24): Lias Andersson, Connor Brickley, Pavel Buchnevich, Filip Chytil, Phillip Di Giuseppe, Jesper Fast, Steven Fogarty, Tim Gettinger, Micheal Haley, Brett Howden, Nick Jones, Kaapo Kakko, Vitali Kravtsov, Chris Kreider, Dawson Leedahl, Brendan Lemieux, Vinni Lettieri, Greg McKegg, Vladislav Namestnikov, Boo Nieves, Danny O’Regan, Artemi Panarin, Ryan Strome, Mika Zibanejad

Defenseman: Sean Day, Tony DeAngelo, Adam Fox, Libor Hajek, Ryan Lindgren, Joe Morrow, Tarmo Reunanen, Matthew Robertson, Yegor Rykov, Brady Skjei, Brendan Smith, Marc Staal, Jacob Trouba

Newell, a free agent signing last season, appeared in six games with the Wolf Pack at the end of last year after completing his senior season at St. Cloud State.

Fontaine, 22, whom the Rangers’ selected 171st overall in the 2016 Draft, had 26 points in 72 games in his second season of AHL hockey last year.

Keane, 20, was the youngest player cut from the Rangers main roster today. He was one of the Blueshirts’ third-round picks in 2018. In 66 games of OHL hockey last season split between the Barrie Colts and the London Knights, Keane amassed 39 points.
