Game #40: New York Rangers vs Calgary Flames Open Thread

After starting their road trip through western Canada on the wrong foot in Edmonton, the Rangers will look to get back in the win column tonight. A trip into the Scotiabank Sattledome means that a date with Calgary Flames is on deck for David Quinn’s squad.

Although the first 39:00 of Tuesday night’s game was the stuff of nightmares, the Blueshirts will look to build on the grit they demonstrated in turning a 6-0 deficit into a 6-5 contest before conceding an empty net goal in then dying seconds of the game. While David Quinn’s defensive structure let the team down in Edmonton, the Blueshirts’ players have shown the talent necessary to compete in spite of their coach on a near nightly basis. If that talent shines through tonight, they’ll have a good chance of taking down Johnny Gaudreau and the rest of the Flames.

Player to Watch: Artemiy Panarin

Over the last three games, Panarin has taken 66 shifts for 58:14 of ice time. In those minutes, he’s compiled a ludicrous 2-8-10 stat line to elevate himself to 6th place in the leaguewide scoring race. Look for another dazzling performance out of Panarin as the Rangers look to earn two points themselves.

Enjoy the game!
